What
is GPRS?
GPRS stands for general packet radio service. It is a pocket oriented mobile
data service available in global system of mobile communication. The speed
of GPRS can be observed from 56kb/s to 114 kb/s.GPRS Theory of technology
is mainly used in services such as wireless application protocol, short
messages services, multimedia messaging service and for internet communication
such as email and world wide access. GPRS Theory states that the data
transfer is typically charged per megabyteof traffic transferred. Have
you heard about 5g cellular systems? if not checkout this: 2Gcellular
systems is a combination with GPRS are often called as "2.5G",
that is, a technology between the second (2G) and third (3G) generations
of mobile telephony. moderate speed data transfer, by using unused time
division multiple access(TDMA) is provided by GPRS e.g GSM system.Several
work has been done to improve the standard of GPRS but GSM standard is
considered as apt for GPRS usage.

The multiple access methods used in GSM with GPRS are based on Frequent
division duplex (FDD) and TDMA. During a particular period, a person is
granted a job to one pair of up-link and down-link frequency channels.
This is combined with time division multiplexing (TDM), i.e. packet mode
communication, This concept states that the packets creates a possibility
which provides the facility for several users to make use of same frequency
channel. The packets have their own constant defined length, which corresponding
to a GSM time slot. This phenomena works under FIFO condition which is
nothing but First comes first serve. while the up-link uses a scheme very
similar toreservation ALOHA. This means that slotted ALOHA(S-ALOHA) is
used for reservation inquiries during a contention phase, and then the
actual data is transferred using dynamic TDMA with first-come first-served
scheduling.
GPRS Theory works originally on supported internet protocol and point
to point protocol(P2P) .This also supports X.25.X.25 is typically used
for wireless payment terminals. X.25 can be supported over PPP, or even
over IP, but doing this requires either a router to perform encapsulation
or intelligence built in to the end-device/terminal e.g. UE(User Equipment).PPP
is not supported by mobile phone operator.thus mobile built in browser
uses Ipv4,Ipv6 is not popular. There are three categories of class observed
such as:
CLASS A:In
this both GPRS and GSM service can be used at a time.
CLASS B:Can be connected
to both GPRS and GMS service but both cannot be used simultaneously.Only
one can be used at a time.
CLASS C:In this it can be
connected to either GPRS or GMS at a time.

| Well
ordered Coding scheme in GPRS service are as follows:
1)CS-1 having speed 8 kb/s.
2)CS-2 with a speed of 12 kb/s.
3)CS-3 having speed of 14.4 kb/s.
4)CS-4 having speed of 20.4kb/s.
GPRS provides the following
service such as:
1)Multimedia messaging service.
2)Push to talk over cellula Poc/PTT.
3)Instant messaging and presence-wireless image.
4)Internet application through smart devices using wireless application
protocol.
5)Short message service.
6)Point to point service internetworking with Internet.
With these enhancements the active round-trip time can
be reduced, resulting in significant increase in application-level throughput
speeds. These are the benifits with GPRS.
