Home Network

Home Network:
 Home network is also known as LAN (local area network) .this network is used for connection of multiple devices within or around the network. The main usage of home network is for connection of multiple pc’s for file-sharing, printer sharing , remote desk toping.
Home network is created with broadband modems (may be DSL or ISP cables), routers (Residential Getaway), computers, printers, etc.

Home network can be associated with:

1)            LAN (local area network)
2)            WLAN ( Wireless local area network)

Home networking with two computers:
First we will know how to connect two computers for file sharing or printers or peripheral devices or single internet connection usage.
There are 3 methods for connecting two computers for small home networking
1) Ethernet.
2) Special USB cables.
3) Serial or parallel modems.

Ethernet:
By using local Ethernet the sharing of data can be done between two or multiple computers in an office.  We need Ethernet rj-45 cable to connect network devices and to build a Ethernet network
 
. So to build the network we need to place Ethernet cable into Ethernet hub which has a list of ports (Ethernet ports) .and after placing this cables the Ethernet network is created. We can also use crossover type cables to create Ethernet network without Ethernet hub.

Special USB cables: special USB cables are used for the direct connection of the computers. With these USB cables we can access computers directly without creating any network.  Ordinary USB cables are not allowed as they may damage the computer peripherals because of the electrical shortage.

Serial or parallel cables:
Through Serial or parallel cables we can access not more than two computers. It is also called as DCC (direct cable connection).this cables offer low performance.

Home networking with Routers:
  Internet is nothing but an interconnection of huge and small networks so in order to connect these networks we use a device named Router. The router is connected to more than two networks namely one is LAN’s network (local area network) or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and the other is ISP’s (internet service providers) Network. The flow of data between the two networks is controlled by this timely device.

The router is used to connect multiple computers to the internet using the single ISP (internet service providers).
Router is used for:
1)            File sharing
2)            Internet sharing
3)            Printer sharing
4)            Connecting game console to internet so that it can be played in LAN (local area network)

Ethernet and routers are best for home networking .As they have more feasibility in accessing network devices.

Wireless home network:

For wireless home network we need wireless router and wireless network adapter to build a wireless home network .next install the router and test the manually configured WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network).wireless home network have more benefits compare to cabled home network. Easy of accessing emails, chatting with friends or playing games.
